August 25, 2023: The Supreme Court on Friday announced that the trial in the Manipur Violence cases, including crimes committed against women, which were being probed by the CBI will now take place in Assam and asked the Gauhati High Court Chief Justice to nominate the judges who are conversant with one or more languages spoken in Manipur.

Supreme Court ordered that all the applications for the production of accused, remand, judicial custody, extension of custody and other proceedings are allowed to be conducted in the online mode bearing in mind both distance and security issues at the courts in Manipur. The statements of the witnesses are to be recorded in the presence of local Magistrate in Manipur.

Supreme Court has also directed the Acting Chief Justice of Manipur High Court to nominate one or more magistrates for recording of statements of witnesses.
