Manipur Congress President Govindas Konthoujam and two other senior leaders had resigned on July 19

July 23, 2021: The stalemate over appointing the President for Manipur Congress continues. Even after four days, the Congress has failed to pick one person to lead the Congress in Manipur. Bhakta Charan Das, in-charge for Manipur has been camping in Manipur since July 21 but there has been no decision yet.



Das, who was sent by party high command tp take stock of the party’s situation in the state and also appoint someone as the President of Manipur Congress held a meeting with the legislature party leaders, including former CM of Manipur Okram Ibobi Singh yesterday. Two legislators -- K Ranjit and DD Thaisi gave the meeting a miss.





Resigned MLAs Govindas Konthoujam, Khumukcham Joykishan and  Yamthang Haokip were also absent.

Sources said that five more MLAs are expected to leave the party.



Speaking to the media, Das said that he is also holding meetings regarding the party’s game plan in the upcoming Assembly elections. The state will go to polls next year.
