June 13, 2022: Hundreds of Congress party workers surrounded and walked with Rahul Gandhi as the Gandhi scion walked towards the Enforcement Directorate office in New Delhi to appear before the agency in the National Herald case.



Lok Sabha MP Rahul Gandhi and his mother and Congress President Sonia Gandhi were issued summons by the ED to appear before them in connection with a money laundering case related to the National Herald newspaper.



Soon after the summons was issued, Sonia Gandhi tested positive for COVID and has been hospitalised a day ago with COVID issues. The ED has issued a fresh summon to her asking her to appear from the investigative agency on June 23.



The Enforcement Directorate is law enforcement agency and economic intelligence agency responsible for enforcing economic laws and fighting economic crime in India. It is part of the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, and Government of India.
