Passengers Bid Adieu to Vistara Airlines: ‘India’s Finest’ as Operations End

November 11, 2024: In a heartfelt farewell to what many have described as “India’s finest” domestic airline, Vistara Airlines completed its final flights on Monday, marking the end of an era as it officially merged with Air India.

Vistara, a joint venture between the Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, has been synonymous with luxury and customer service in India’s aviation industry. The airline’s integration into Air India was first announced in November 2022, and since then, Vistara has been gradually phasing out its bookings in preparation for its operations to fully transition under the Air India brand.

On social media, passengers shared their last moments with the airline, reminiscing about the exceptional service that made Vistara stand out from the competition. “Grateful to have experienced Vistara on its final day of operations—a brand that truly delivered on its promise of ‘a new feeling’ in travel. Vistara is one of the few brands which overlapped brand promise with brand delivery so seamlessly,” one user wrote, echoing the sentiments of many who admired the airline’s commitment to quality and passenger satisfaction.

Vistara was consistently lauded as one of India’s best domestic airlines, with passengers often highlighting the airline’s food, service quality, and the professionalism of its crew. Many took to social media to share memories of their flights, posting photos of the airline's renowned in-flight meals, comfortable seating, and the warm, attentive service that made every journey feel special.

On its final day of operations, Vistara’s official social media account shared a poignant message: “As the plane ascends, so do our dreams; let’s glide toward the future, where the sky isn’t the limit, but just the beginning.” The post, which was accompanied by images of Vistara aircraft taking off, captured the bittersweet farewell from both employees and loyal passengers.

The merger, which will result in Singapore Airlines holding a 25.1% stake in the newly consolidated Air India, has been positioned as a move to create a more competitive and expansive airline. Vistara CEO Vinod Kannan expressed optimism about the future, emphasizing that the merger would allow the airline to offer passengers more travel options, an expanded fleet, and enhanced overall services. "While today marks the end of Vistara's operations as a separate entity, it’s just the beginning of a new chapter for Indian aviation,” Kannan said in a statement.
