November 17, 2022: A 17-year -old girl in Maharashtra's Aurangabad suffered a severe head injury after she jumped off a speeding auto rickshaw to escape sexual harassment. The incident took place on Sunday.

The whole incident was captured on the CCTV footage of a nearby shop. Pedestrians were seen helping the victim.

According to reports, the girl took the auto rickshaw after her tuition classes. The auto driver, Syed Akbar Hameed, started asking her generic questions in the beginning but gradually made offensive remarks that frightened the teen following which, she jumped off from the speeding auto rickshaw.

 The victim has suffered severe head injuries, and was admitted to a hospital in Aurangabad. The auto driver was arrested after the police tracked down his location with the help of CCTVs at the road.

The accused was arrested and produced before a court, and has been sent to police custody. Police suspect that the accused was a habitual offender and had harassed women passengers in the past, too.

Hameed is a resident of Mumbai. He had moved to Aurangabad four-five months ago and drove a rented auto rickshaw.
