May 12, 2023: India recorded 1580 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, according to the data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Department on Friday morning.

The active cases in the country now stand at 18009.

According to the data, around 3167 recovery cases were recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries from the infection to 4,44,28,417 in the country.

A total of 220.66 crore vaccines have been administered in the country, according to the ministry.

However, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has recently announced that COVID-19 pandemic is over as a global health emergency.
