July 8, 2021: Gangapuram Kishan Reddy took charge as  Cabinet Minister for Development of Northeastern Region (DoNER), Culture and Tourism on Thursday.



Reddy the only face in the Narendra Modi government from the two Telugu states - Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.





The Secunderabad MP, who was promoted on Wednesday after serving as the Minister of State for Home Affairs for the past two years, is believed to be a trusted lieutenant of senior BJP leader Amit Shah.



The 60-year-old Reddy, who also served as three-time MLA, has been associated with BJP since its inception.





He began his political career as an ordinary party worker and came up in the organisation through sheer hard work and determination.



He was first elected to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly in 2004 from the Himayatnagar constituency in Hyderabad.
