July 27, 2021: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday paying his condolences to those who lost their lives in the Assam-Mizoram Border clashes slamed that the Union Home Minister Amit Shah has "failed" the country by "sowing hatred and distrust" into the lives of people, terming the clashes its 'dreadful consequences.'



"Heartfelt condolences to the families of those who've been killed. I hope the injured recover soon. HM has failed the country yet again by sowing hatred and distrust into the lives of people. India is now reaping its dreadful consequences," said the Congress leader in a tweet.

At least 56  cops and Cachar SP  Vaibhav Nimbalkar were injured at the firing at Lailapur in Assam-Mizoram border. Firing took place owing to the border dispute between the two states.



Seven people including a civilian have died due to the firing and clashes.



Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has reached Silchar this morning. He met injured police personnel and civilians in Silchar Hospital.
