December 11, 2021: We all like long, glossy, healthy hair. But getting that kind of hair and maintaining it is difficult. Of course, your hair type depends a lot on your genes, what you eat and how you care for your hair.

Here are a few things you should avoid doing to your hair in winters.

Avoid Hot Showers

Who doesn’t love a hot shower during the winters. But I am sure you must have heard or read this many times. Hot water is bad both for your hair as well as your skin. It rips you off the much needed moisture. You might enjoy a hot shower in the winter chill but will cause a lot of damage to your hair and skin. Shower with warm or lukewarm water is what most experts suggest. So ditch the hot water while washing your hair or your face.

Avoid Frequent Hair Washes

As hair tends to go limp, particularly during winters, the usual tendency is either to hide the hair under a stylish woollen cap or wrap a scarf around your head or wash it. Frequent washing of hair with shampoos strips off its natural oils, causing further dryness and irritation. Experts suggest washing hair just twice a week with a mild shampoo particularly during winters.

Avoid Using Heat Styling Tools

Your hair is already delicate during winter. It tends to get limp and can break easily. Using heat styling tools can make it more brittle, causing hair breakage. Avoid blow drying your hair as it draws moisture out of your hair. Towel drying your hair is the best way to keep the moisture locked in.

Avoid Stepping Out With Wet Hair

Avoid stepping out in the cold weather with wet hair. One, of course you will catch a cold and two this will dry out your hair making it prone to breakages. Always dry your hair before you step out.
