January 1, 2021: Come February, the price of liquor will come down in Assam. Not only liquor. Prices of petrol-diesel will also going to be cheaper.

The Assam government will withdraw all Covid-related taxes from next month/

"In the vote-on-account to be submitted in February, withdrawal of additional Covid-taxes on fuel and liquor will be included in the first chapter," informed finance minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma.

The government imposed Covid taxes on these items last year in order to revive the state economy crippled by the Covid-19 lockdown.
