September 26, 2021: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on the occasion of World Rivers Day said that the Rivers are the lifelines of a nation and plays a pivotal role in socio-economic life.

Taking to Twitter Assam CM said, “Rivers are the lifelines of a nation. Mahabahu Brahmaputra and Barak River play a pivotal role in Assam’s socio-economic life. On #WorldRiversDay, let's celebrate the contribution of rivers to our civilisational glory and partake in our duty to keep them clean.”

World Rivers Day is observed on the fourth Sunday of September each year, to celebrate Earth's waterways. The day also aims to encourage improved stewardship of the world’s rivers by informing everybody of the crucial role they play in supporting humanity’s sustenance and that of other life forms on the planet.
