July 24,2020: Respite for the people of Guwahati, government and the Health Department. For the first time in 3 weeks, the number of Covid positive cases has come down in Guwahati.

On Thursday, the city recorded 219 positive cases out of 1047 cases tested positive on the day. According to Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma, till Thursday, the total cases of Assam stand at 28,791 of which 19,350 are discharged while 9,368 are active cases. The death toll till Thursday is 70.

The city last recorded the lowest cases on July 3. On that day, 134 positive cases were detected. Since then, the number kept on increasing every day. The highest cases(777) in the city was recorded on July 5.

On July 13, 513 cases, 627 on July 14, 649 on July 15, 598 on July 16, 570 on July 17, 515 on July 18, 577 on July 19, 448 on July 20, 570 on July 21 and 354 cases were recorded on July 22 in the city.

Guwahati so far has recorded a total of 13,090 cases of which, 11,014 cases have been recorded since July 1.
