December 10, 2020: The fates of 441 candidates of Bodoland Territorial Council election have been sealed in ballot boxes as second and final phase polling passed off peacefully on Thursday.



Over 70% voter turnout have been recorded till the polling ended at 4.30 PM. However, the polling percentage is likely to go up as polling in several polling stations was going on even after the scheduled time.



The voting, which started at 7.30 AM, was by and large peaceful. At two polling station in Basugaon, clash was occurred over allegations of rigging. However, the situation was brought under control.



10,23,014 voters were eligible to exercise their franchise. The voting took place in 1406 polling stations amidst tight security to decide the fates of 111 candidates. The poll was held for 11 constituencies of Kokrajhar district and 7 of Chirang district.



The prominent candidates whose fates were sealed include present BTC chief Hagrama Moholari, his deputy Kampha Borgoyari, ex-NDFB leaders B Ferenga and B Saoragra, UPPL Vice President Rwngwra Narzary and BJP state secretary Shivanath Brahma.

In the first phase on Monday, fates of 130 candidates of 21 constituencies of Udalguri and Baksa districts were sealed in ballot boxes.



Apart from ruling BPF; BJP, UPPL, Gana Suraksha Party, Congress and AIUDF are in the fray in this election.



The Counting of votes will be done on December 12.
