April 7, 2020: The number of covid-19 cases in Assam has risen to 27 after one person tested positive in Dhubri district on Tuesday.



The patient has been identified as Jamal Uddin and currently kept in quarantine at Dhubri civil hospital. He is the first covid-19 patient to be reported from the district and is said to have participated in the religious meet held at Nizamuddin Markaz, Delhi.

Following this Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted this morning, "Alert - one more #Covid_19 positive case has been confirmed, taking the total number in Assam to 27. This patient is related to #NizamuddinMarkaz event in Delhi. Update at: 9.25 am /April 7."
