August 9, 2022: Ahead of the 75TH Independence Day, an incident of firing on Assam Rifles troops by militant groups NSCN and ULFA (I) have been reported from across the Indo Myanmar Border. The incident took place early Tuesday morning at Pangsau Pass along the Indo-Myanmar border in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district.



“Assam Rifles troops were undertaking enhanced patrolling activities in view of heightened vigil for the forthcoming Independence Day. One JCO (Junior Commissioned Officer) sustained minor injury in hand. No injury or any other damage reported. Enhanced surveillance by own troops to continue”, Assam Rifles said in a press statement.
