September 21, 2021: Jorhat Police on Tuesday will file the case diary of Majuli Boat Tragedy where a private ferry had overturned after a collision with a bigger, government run ferry at Nimati Ghat in Jorhat on September 8 in front of the court that killed 3 people.



Earlier, the case diary was decided to submit on September 17 but due to state holiday, the court had postponed the date of submission.





Many passengers drowned in the Brahmaputra River. But later most of them were rescued after a search operation. Three persons have lost their lives in the incident.



Parimita Das, a 28 year old Assistant Professor of Rangachahi College was the first casualty. Bodies of two other people who went missing after the incident - Indreswar Bora and Dr Bikramjit Baruah were recovered from different places.

Dr Bikramjit Baruah’ body was recovered from Ahatguri Bhekel on September 14 and Indreswar Bora’s body was recovered from Biswanath Ghat on September 11.



Till now, at least 12 persons have been arrested in connection to the case.
