June 27, 2022: Shubash Barman, a resident of Guwahati, never in his dreams thought that eating one mango from a tree in a local MLA’s yard would land him in jail.

Narrating the incident Barman, who is out of the jail now said that he had gone to pluck a mango from the many trees in Dispur MLA Atul Bora’s official residence. Suddenly the caretaker came running towards him and tried to chase him away. An argument ensued after which Barman left the place. Later in the afternoon, police arrived at Barman’s house and picked him up and he was in jail.

Barman said that MLA Bora was not aware of the incident and got him released as soon as he got to know about the arrest of Barman.

Barman runs a Photostat shop near the MLA’s house.
