August 22, 2020: Its celebration time at Baromukhia village of Borpothar in Golaghat district of Assam. Ever since the government on Friday announced the prestigious Arjuna award to the village's daughter and pugilist Lovlina Borgohain, the village burst into a celebration mood.



On Saturday morning, the villagers gathered spontaneously at her residence and were seen singing and dancing Bihu. The villagers expressed extreme joy over the government's decision. Her father shared the joy but missed her. The boxer's mother prayed that her daughter will be able to touch new heights at the coming Tokyo Olympics.





Lovlina, in a video message from Patiala, thanked the government for nominating her for the award and also expressed gratitude to the people of Assam. She's presently training at Patiala for the Olympics.

The government had announced Arjuna award to 28 other sportspersons along with Lovlina. The awardees will receive their awards from the President of India at a virtual function at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on August 29.
