September 23, 2021: Assam Police arrested the official photographer of Darrang DC’s office on Thursday evening.

The photographer was caught on camera punching and jumping on the chest of a man even as the man lay motionless on the ground. The man died.

The incident took place when villagers clashed with the police in No 3 Dhalpur area of Sipajhar in Darrang district of Assam where the administration had undertaken an eviction drive to evict over 800 families and regain at least 4,500 bighas of government land.

Interesting the man who was mercilessly beaten up by the police and the photographer was armed just with a lathi but was soon overpowered by the police and the photographer finally leaving him dead. He had come charging at the police with just the stick.
