June 25, 2021: COVID curfew timings in Guwahati (Kamrup Metro) has been relaxed by two hours from 2 PM to 4 PM. Shops and markets would remain open till 3 PM, Assam health minister Keshab Mahanta said on Friday announcing the revised SOP. The new changes would come into effect from Monday, June 28 and would be in place for the entire week.



Biswanath, Morigaon and Goalpara districts have been declared as containment zones. Bokakhat in Golaghat district too has been declared as a containment zone as 247 locations in these districts have seen a spike in the number of COVID cases, the health minister said. The state government and the health department would continue to keep a close watch on 4,581 locations across the state to control any further increase in the number of COVID cases. 





Curfew relaxations have been announced for Hailakandi too. The new timings from Monday would be in place from 4 PM till 5 AM. For the rest of the districts barring Kamrup Metro and Hailakandi, the curfew timings and other restrictions would continue to be the same.

Assam reported 2,781 new COVID cases on Thursday (Jun 24) and 34 deaths. Sonitpur topped the tally with 2,300 positive cases in the last 10 days from June 15-24, followed by 2,188 cases in Golaghat, 1,853 cases in Dibrugarh and 1,772 cases in Kamrup (Metro).
