August 8, 2020: COVID-19 cases in Assam have risen to 55496 with 2679 new cases detected on Friday.
Informing the development, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted,” Alert ~ 2679 COVID cases detected out of 58531 tests in last 24 hrs.
Positivity rate continues to be low at 4.57%
Kamrup (M)- 442, Kamrup (R)- 265, Cachar- 250, Nagaon- 172
Total cases 55496
Recovered 37224
Active cases 18137
Deaths 132

On the other hand out of these 18137 are active cases whereas 38809 have recovered.
It may be added that on Friday 6 patients had succumbed to the virus on Friday leading the death toll to 132.
