November 13, 2020: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has ordered a CID probe into the death of senior journalist Parag Bhuyan.
Bhuyan, a journalist with Pratidin Time television channel died after being hit by a tea leaf carrying vehicle in front of his residence at Kakopothar on Wednesday night.
The CM has asked the CID to probe the case from all angles, The initiative came after it was alleged that Bhuyan's death was not an accident, but a murder. He was of late exposing the coal and timer smuggling going on in the area and it is alleged that he was target for his stories by those he exposed.
Earlier, Tinsukia police seized the vehicle involved in the accident and arrested the driver and the handyman following direct order from the chief minister.
Bhuyan, brother of AJP leader Jagadish Bhuyan, was the vice president of Tinsukia Journalists Association. A #JusticeForParagBhuyan campaign has started across the state demanding thorough probe into the case.
