November 10, 2022: A child marriage incident was reported in Katigorah, Cachar district in Assam on Tuesday.

Reportedly, the girl is 13-years-old and the groom is 18-years-old. The groom is from Masimpur of Silchar district.

The incident came to light when some locals informed the nearby police. Police however managed to reached the spot immediately and stop the marriage.

Later, both the girl and the boy were sent for examination to Katigorah Hospital.

Police have arrested both the fathers identified as Sajrul Ismail and Hakim Ali.
