June 30, 2022: Cachar DC Keerthi Jalli threatened an executive engineer of the water resources department of Assam of getting suspended and not being promoted.
DC Jalli held the executive engineer Dipak Goswami responsible for the massive flooding that Silchar and entire Cachar district had to go through. DC Jalli was on an inspection to take stock of the progress in the work done for the construction of the Betkandi embankment in the district.
But when she saw that the progress has been extremely lax, she lost her cool. The DC told executive engineer Dipak Goswami to camp at the site, be present 24x7 and fast track and complete the construction work. She further said that the massive floods that Silchar and the entire Cachar district saw was because of the lax attitude of executive engineer Goswami and delay in completing the embankment. Had the embankment been ready and in place, Silchar would not have been inundated in the manner it was and people would not have gone through so much of pain, distress and hardship.
