December 7, 2020: Heavy voter turnout has been recorded in the first three hours of polling in the first phase of Bodoland Territorial Council poll underway on Monday.



The polling started from 7.30 AM and will continue till 4.30 PM.



As the day progressed, polling percentage increased. Due to good weather, people came out in large numbers to exercise their franchise. Till 11 AM, around 30% polling has been recorded in most polling stations.



In the first phase, polling will be held in 21 constituencies of Udalguri and Baksa districts.



Total 13,59,020 voters will exercise their franchise in 1739 polling stations to decide the fates of 130 candidates.

In Udalguri, 6,21,225 voters will vote in 807 polling stations spread across 10 constituencies while 7,37,795 voters of 11 constituencies of Baksa will vote in 932 polling stations.



A total of 60 and 70 candidates are in fray in Udalgiri and Baksa respectively.



A tight security has been put in place for the election.



Apart from ruling BPF; BJP, UPPL, Congress and AIUDF are in the fray in this election. The Counting of votes will be on December 12, 2020.
