May 21, 2022: An enraged mob of villagers attacked a police station set it on fire after a youth allegedly died in custody in Assam’s Batadrava police station on Saturday. Two of the policemen were injured in the attack. Three police vehicles were set on fire.



On Friday night, police had detained a youth namely Safikul Islam and had allegedly demanded a duck and cash of Rs. 10,000 from the youth. When the youth failed to comply with the demand the police reportedly attacked him. The dead body of the youth was recovered from the Nagaon Hospital’s morgue.



When the news of Safikul’s death spread in the area, an enraged mob of hundreds of people attacked the police station and set the whole station on fire.
