June 1, 2023: A bus mysteriously caught fire at Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) bus depot in Tinsukia, Assam on Thursday.

Reportedly, the bus has been completely gutted into the fire. However, fire-fighters reached the spot to douse the fire and brought the situation under control. No casualties were reported.

Earlier a day, around 771 ASTC employees were removed from their jobs. According to some reports, a total of 2,274 employees were recruited without following the procedure.

A protest was also staged by the alleged illegally recruited ASTC employees at the office in Paltan Bazaar, Guwahati on Wednesday after their removal from their jobs.
