October 28, 2022: Neel Pawan Baruah, a prominent painter and illustrator from Assam, passed away today at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital in Guwahati at the age of 86.
He was undergoing treatment at GMCH since September 22, 2022.
Baruah was born on 1st June, 1936. He was the founder artist of the Assam Fine Arts & Craft Society.
Around 87 paintings by the Neel Pawan Baruah are on display at the State Art Gallery as part of an exhibition titled 'Neel Pawan Baruah- an exhibition of paintings. The 87 paintings on display are a part of his collection that was composed in the last 10 to 15 years.
