December 27, 2022: A minor girl has been critically injured after being attacked by a youth named Meher Ali who had allegedly thrown acid on her face in Sarthebari, Assam on Monday night.

Reportedly, the incident took place while the girl was returning home from a cultural night with her mother.

According to police, the accused Meher Ali threw acid because the girl didn’t accept his proposal.

The victim was immediately taken to a hospital in Barpeta for her treatment. The girl has sustained major injuries on her neck, face, and chest.

However, the victim’s parents have lodged a complaint against the accused Meher following which Assam Police have arrested him.
