August 28, 2023: Tension erupted after a shocking incident took place in Guwahati, Assam in the wee hours of Monday morning where a woman was allegedly murdered by a man with whom she was having an extramarital affair. The incident took place in Boragaon area.

Reportedly, the woman was brutally stabbed to death by the man identified as Niranjan Gohain. The accused first tried to kill the woman’s husband Abani Das who was sleeping on the bed. Later, he also attacked the victim’s two children who are in critical condition and currently undergoing treatment.

According to reports, the accused Niranjan met the deceased woman three years ago. Though the woman fled with Niranjan a few months ago, she returned home and began to stay again with her husband and the family.

However, the accused Niranjan was also found hanging inside the room after committing the abhorrent crime.

Police have reached the spot and recovered the sharp weapon. The bodies have been sent for the post-mortem.
