August 2, 2021: Assam’s COVID-19 tally rose to 5,68,257 on Monday as 1275 people tested positive for the infection, while 19 fresh fatalities pushed the state’s coronavirus death toll to 5,294, a bulletin issued by the National Health Mission said.

Kamrup (M) district reported the highest number of new cases at 209, followed by Golaghat (106), Dibrugarh (90) and Kamrup Rural (69).

4 COVID-19 fatalities were reported from Barpeta, 3 from Kamrup (M) and 2 each from Kamrup (R) and Dibrugarh.

The current death rate is 0.93 per cent and the number of COVID-19 positive patients dying due to other causes is 1,347.

The number of active COVID-19 positive cases in the state is 11,082.
