July27, 2021: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has reached Silchar this morning. He met injured police personnel and civilians in Silchar Hospital.



At least 56  cops and Cachar SP  Vaibhav Nimbalkar were injured at the firing at Lailapur in Assam-Mizoram border. Firing took place owing to the border dispute between the two states.



Seven people including a civilian has died due to the firing and clashes.





A team of specialists from Gauhati Medical College and Hospital has reached Silchar Medical College and Hospital to treat the injured.



Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, Spl DGP GP Singh accompanied the CM.

Home Minister Amit Shah has spoken to Assam CM and his Mizoram counterpart Zoramthanga to maintain status quo and restraint.





Violent clashes broke out at Lailapur yesterday after Assam Police tried to dismantle a Mizoram Police post built towards Assam territory. Mizoram government has said that they had to resort to firing in response to Assam Police’s activities of ‘arson’ and ‘aggression’.



Gun shots were fired like firecrackers.



Assam Ministers Pijush Hazarika, Parimal Suklabaidya are already at Lailapur.
