August 24, 2020: Assam has surpassed Wuhan in terms of total Covid-19 cases.

August 24, 2020: When the reports of Covid-19 outbreak in Wuhan, a remote province of China started to flow in, the people of Assam had never even in their wildest dream had thought that someday they will also have to face the same. And nearly 8 months later, Assam has surpassed Wuhan in terms of total Covid-19 cases.





Assam on Sunday recorded 1,272 fresh COVID cases. Of these, Kamrup M- 280 and Cachar- 134. Altogether 70,500 patients have been discharged leaving total patients at 90,740 including 19,595 active patients. Wuhan has officially recorded 84,000 cases. A total of 3,259 patients were discharged in the state on Sunday. With the death of 8 persons on Sunday, the death toll has crossed to 242.

Significant point is the increase in the positivity rate. On Sunday, it increased to 6.89% in comparison to 6.77% on Saturday. But along with this increase, the number of tests has come down. In the last week, the number of tests has come down to less than half of what it was exactly a week ago.
