January 3, 2021: Following the success of the drink and drive initiative in Assam on New Year, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said that the same drunken driving rule will be followed on Uruka night too.



Assam reported zero accidents on New Year's Eve for the first time.



Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on the night of 31 December 2021 personally joined the drive against drunk driving in Guwahati. This act has been appreciated by the nation for the dedication they have put in to make the initiative a successful one.



Uruka is the state festival of Assam when feasts are held in every Assamese household (community feasts are also held) as part of Bhogali or Magh Bihu celebrations. Uruka is usually celebrated on January 13.
