July 5, 2021: Assam government will announce fresh Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on Monday, as some of the districts are still witnessing rise in COVID-19 cases, said Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.



The state government on June 25 issued the revised SOPs relaxing curfew timings in Kamrup Metropolitan district until 5 pm.





Golaghat and Jorhat districts have reported the highest number of COVID cases in the state till Sunday and the districts with more number of cases will be under the close watch said the Chief Minister on Sunday.



The Chief Minister further said that the covid situation in the state will be under control if the cases of coronavirus decrease in the districts such as Lakhimpur, Sivasagar and Dibrugarh.

Earlier, total lockdown was imposed in Goalpara, Biswanath, Morigaon and Bokakhat sub-division in Golaghat districts in view of rise in coronavirus cases.



Considering the decreasing trend of coronavirus cases in Guwahati, relaxation hour in Kamrup Metropolitan district have been extended till 5 PM, an extension of one hour over the earlier 3 PM deadline.



All inter-district movement of people remains suspended.



Further, the Chief Minister has announced that the state will receive 30 lakh vaccines this month.





Assam’s COVID-19 tally rose to 5, 17,194 on Sunday as 1213 people tested positive for the infection while 20 new fatalities pushed the death toll to 4,652, the National Health Mission (NHM) bulletin said. The state currently has 22,155 active COVID-19 cases.



As many as 2,775 COVID-19 patients recovered from the infection during the day and a total of 4,89,040 people have recovered from the disease so far.
