June 20, 2022: As many as 71 people have lost their lives – 54 due to floods and 17 due to rain-triggered landslides in Assam and over 48,02,364 people have been affected in 34 districts of the state due to floods. Of the 34 districts, 11 have been affected by landslides.



As many as 7,716 villages have been declared flood- hit, 2,098 relief camps have been set up and 2,007 relief distribution centres are functional. At least 2,404 animals have either been washed away or died due to the floods and 1,99,438.59 hectares of crop land has been damaged by the flood waters.

This was disclosed at a meeting that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took on Monday morning to review the flood situation in the state.



CM Sarma took a meeting of the Deputy Commissioners and SDOs to take stock of the flood situation as well as the rescue and relief operations. Senior officers from all relevant departments were also present at the meeting.
