May 6, 2020: The number of COVID-19 cases in Assam has risen to 44 as a youth from Kokrajhar with a travel history of Cooch Behar in West Bengal tested positive on Tuesday.



State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, "Alert - One person from Kokrajhar dist, with a travel history of Cooch Behar in West Bengal, has tested positive for COVID-19. North east arrow total COVID-19 patients in Assam now stands at 44. North east arrow Active cases 11, discharged 32 and death 1".

Positive cases for COVID-19 have reported so far from Golaghat, Nalbari, Morigaon, Goalpara, Dhubri, South Salmara, Kamrup (Metro), Kamrup, Karimganj, Lakhimpur, Cachar, Hailakandi, Bongaigaon districts, Kokrajhar.



Of the total 44 cases, one COVID-19 positive patient namely Sri Faizul Haque Barbhuyan died on April 10.
