November 24, 2021: Marking implementation of the National Education Policy, the Assam Cabinet today, November 24 cleared the proposal to restructure the schools system in keeping with the 5+3+3+4 school structure of NEP.

As per the proposal,  from Class Nursery to Class 2 will be known as Foundation School. Classes 6, 7 and 8 would be known as Elementary School and Classes 9 to 12 would be known as Senior Secondary or Secondary School.

From January 1, 2023 the syllabus too will change as per the NEP.
