August 29, 2020: The autumn session of the Assam assembly will commence from Monday. The 4-day session will continue till September 3.

Specific health protocols have been put in place for the session which is being held amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. All MLAs and ministers have been asked to get tested for Covid-19. Besides, screening of all the staff of the assembly secretariat and the journalists has been made mandatory before the session begins. As per the norms, a large number of MLAs and secretariat staff been tested. On Friday, 5 out of the 105 staff members were found positive. On Saturday, the journalists who have applied for passes to cover the session were also tested.

The Assembly will take place with 50 per cent presence of the MLAs at a given time to maintain social distancing norms. During the session, supplementary grants will be passed and a few bills will be presented.
