March 8, 2025: The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has announced its decision to contest the upcoming Panchayat elections and the 2026 Assam Assembly elections without forming any alliances.
This decision was finalized during a meeting of party MLAs and office bearers at the MLA Hostel in Dispur.
AIUDF General Secretary Aminul Islam asserted that the party will not seek alliances with any other party. "We have decided to go solo in 2026. We will not go to anyone for an alliance. That is clear," Islam stated.
The party is currently finalizing its strategy for the Panchayat elections and will determine the number of seats to contest once district committees submit their reports.
Islam dismissed speculation about possible alliances or mergers, terming such reports as propaganda by rival parties aimed at weakening AIUDF.
He clarified that future decisions will depend on the political scenario.
Reflecting on past alliances, Islam recalled the Grand Alliance formed with Congress and 15 other parties during the last assembly elections. However, he claimed that AIUDF was not invited for discussions this time, stating that the people will respond in the elections.
