July 10, 2021: The outbreak of African swine flu in Assam has become a serious concern amidst the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.



Till now 246 pigs have died in the state’s Sipajhar region due swine flu. The same has been confirmed by the doctors of Veterinary Science Department, Khanapara who have found the presence of virus in their test samples.

On other hand, pigs showing symptoms of the virus have been killed and buried.



Reacting to the outbreak of swine flu, State Minister for Agriculture and Veterinary Atul Bora has requested that vigilance is required to stop further spread of the virus in the state.



he further requested poultry owners to necessary measures and keep their pigs clean.
