November 26, 2021: A massive earthquake of magnitude 6.1 1 struck the Myanmar-India border region on Friday, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS).



Tremors were felt across Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram and Assam. Witness accounts on European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre's (EMSC) website said that the quake was felt as far away as Kolkata.

The epicenter of the earthquake was 183 kilometres east of Chittagong in Bangladesh. According to the Seismology Center, the quake occurred at 5.15am.



There were also reports of a second earthquake at 5.53am.
