June 30, 2021: The Assam Vigilance & Anti-Corruption cell in an operation on Monday night arrested six officials from various places of Assam on charges of siphoning money from MLA Local Area Development Fund.

The six officials have been accused of siphoning sixty-five lakhs rupees from Barpeta’s Mondia Block.

Four of the officials were arrested from Barpeta whereas the other two were arrested from Guwahati and Mangoldoi respectively.

The six persons have been identified as Jadav Choudhury - retired DBO of Mondia Block, Yusuf Rahman – former BDO of Mondia Block, Aainur Rahman – JE of Mondia Block, Abdur Rezak, Shahjamal Ali and Muzahidur Rahman of Mondia Block.

All the officials are in the custody of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption cell and are being interrogated.
