November 17, 2022: A group of at least 40 workers from Assam stranded at a Police Station in Bardhaman, Kolkata.



Reportedly, the stranded workers went to Kolkata to join a company after they received a phone call from an agency few days ago.



Out of 40, 9 workers were from Moran, 6 from Golaghat and few others were from different areas of Charaideo and Tinsukia district in Assam.

According to the victims’ family, they are locked in Bardhaman Police Station and the reason behind the incident is not known yet. Each family member has been asked to pay a ransom of Rs 12000 for their release.



The victims’ family seeks Assam government help as they are really concerned about their safety. They have pledged the government to take quick actions regarding the matter.
