November 27, 2020: Indian Railway’s Toll Free Security Helpline no 182 proved to be very effective leading to arrest of 14 Foreign Nationals who entered India illegally and were undertaking journey by train.
It is learnt that on 24th November the Alipurduar Security Control of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) received a call from an on train passenger on the Security Helpline No 182 regarding misbehaviour by some passengers of coach no B - 10 in train no 02501 Agartala – New Delhi Special Rajdhani Express. The RPF official of Alipurduar immediately informed the matter to their counterpart at New Jalpaiguri under Katihar Division where the said train was having next scheduled stoppage.
The officers and staff of RPF and GRP from New Jalpaiguri immediately got ready to check the said train after its arrival at New Jalpaiguri. During checking 14 passengers who boarded the train from Badarpur were detected by the TS (Train Superintendent) of the train of not having any legal document / Identity cards of being an Indian Citizen. The tickets details reveals that they were travelling on fake name i.e. tickets generated in the name of others.
All of the 14 detected passengers were de-trained and taken to GRP thana at New Jalpaiguri. During interrogation it was found that all of them have fled away from the “Refugee Camp of Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh” and entered India. A case was registered by GRP/New Jalpaiguri vide no 244/20 dated 24.11.2020 under section 14 A Foreigner’s (Amendment) Act.
On 25th November all the arrested persons who are believed to be from Rohingya community were produced before the Magistrate and later sent to Judicial Custody.
