November 13, 2022: Six people feared dead after B-17 heavy bomber collided with another Aircraft and crashed during an air show in Dallas, Texas on Sunday.
The incident occurred during “America’s Premier World War 2 Air show” which was veteran day weekend. The guests were there to see more then 40 World War 2 era aircrafts.
Leah Block, a spokesperson of commemorative air force believes that there were five crew members on B-17 and one aboard at P-63.
Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson said many details remain unknown at this time and city authorities continue to provide support.
A number of videos of the mid Air collision went viral on twitter. Two aircraft appeared to collide in the air before they both rapidly descended causing a large fire and plumes of black smoke.
The US government investigative agency responsible for civil transportation accident investigation said it was launching a go-team to investigate Saturday’s mid air collision.
B-17 is an immense four engine bomber and was a cornerstone for US’s air power in World War 2. A majority of B-17 aircrafts were scrapped at the end of World War 2 and only a few remain now.
