November 25, 2021: At lunch on Day 1 of the India-New Zealand Test match, India scored 82 runs for the loss of one wicket at the Green Park in Kanpur today, November 25. Shubman Gill made a half-century on his return to the team after injury. Along with Gill, No.3 batter Cheteshwar Pujara who hasn't reached the three-figure mark since 2019 is also going strong with the opener. Gill and Pujara have added 61 runs for the second wicket.
For New Zealand, Kyle Jamieson is the only wicket-taker till now. He took the wicket of Mayank Agarwal early in the first session of Day 1. Both the teams have included three specialist spinners each in their playing XIs. Shreyas Iyer is making his Test debut for India in the first game and is likely to bat in the middle-order in the absence of regular skipper Virat Kohli.
