OCTOBER 29, 2024 - In a shocking development, Zeeshan Siddique, MLA and son of slain NCP leader Baba Siddique, received death threats through his office in Bandra on Friday evening. The messages also included threats against Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, demanding ransom from both. The alarming incident prompted immediate police action, leading to the arrest of a 21-year-old man, Mohammed Tayyab, from Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
According to police sources, the staff at Zeeshan Siddique’s office swiftly filed a complaint, and an FIR was lodged. Mumbai Police identified Tayyab as the suspect and transferred him to Nirmal Nagar Police in Mumbai for interrogation to uncover the motive behind the threats.
This incident comes after a similar threat was issued to Salman Khan via a WhatsApp message to the Mumbai Traffic Police earlier this year, demanding ₹5 crore. The suspect in that case, Shaikh Hussain Shaikh Mausin, was a 24-year-old vegetable seller from Jamshedpur. The case sparked a nationwide investigation, with police tracking the accused to Jharkhand.
Salman Khan has been a repeated target of threats, notably from jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, which had previously claimed responsibility for an attempted attack on Khan’s Bandra residence in April this year. Following multiple threats, Khan’s security has been enhanced by authorities.
The ongoing investigation into Baba Siddique’s murder, which occurred earlier this month near Zeeshan Siddique’s office, has resulted in the arrest of nine individuals. The assailants, believed to be affiliated with Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, were reportedly in contact with Bishnoi’s brother, Anmol, via Snapchat before executing the murder. The police are continuing their probe into both cases, as concerns over organized crime in Maharashtra intensify.
