August 6, 2022: The voting for the Vice Presidential election has begun today at the Parliament house in New Delhi.
The votes will be counted today itself and the next Vice-President will take the oath of office on August 11 – a day after the term of the incumbent Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu ends.
The contenders for the second highest office of the country are BJP-led NDA’s candidate Jagdeep Dhankar and Opposition’s Margaret Alva.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has cast his vote at the parliament.
