March 18, 2024: At least two people lost their lives and several persons were injured after a five-storey building collapsed in South Kolkata's Metiabruz area on Monday.
According to West Bengal Fire and Emergency Services Minister Sujit Bose, as many as 13 people who were trapped under the rubble after the incident have been rescued.
The Minister informed, “Rs 5 lakhs will be given as compensation to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh will be given to those injured".
Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the incident site and met the injured who are undergoing treatment at Unipon Hospital in South Kolkata.
